Gradual Development of the Parimutuel Horse Betting System

The operation of the parimutuel system had again been improved. The application of electricity had speeded the operation beyond belief, and many observers believed that Oiler, Ekberg, and Julius had perfected the totalisator. But other names were yet to come.

In the United States the parimutuel was having a stormy existence in what seemed to be eternal clashes with its arch enemy the bookmaker. The first American bookmaker of any consequence was James E. Kelley. In 1871 he made a winter book on the forth-coming Belmont Stakes to be run at Jerome Park in New York. Two or three years later an unnamed English bookmaker started taking bets at New York race tracks, and it was soon apparent that he had found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Many others soon joined the gold rush, and it wasn’t long before book-making operations became more important news than racing itself.

Even before the American Revolution, there had been betting on horse races in the Colonies. The land owners bred, traded, and raced horses. Both gentry and commoners bet with all comers on the outcome of a race. In fact, horse racing was our first public sport and continued to be first until displaced in the late nineties by baseball.

Among our leading citizens who were interested in horse breed-ing and racing were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson. In 1790 George Washington acted as judge at a race meeting at Alexandria, Virginia, in which his horse Magnolia ran and was defeated. Thomas Jefferson won a race that same day with his Roan Colt. In the spring of 1805 a match race between Andrew Jackson’s Truxton and Lazarus Cotton’s Greyhound was run at Hartsville, Tennessee. Truxton was the winner, and Andrew Jackson collected a side bet of five thousand dollars from Cotton. In those early days the race was all-important; the betting only incidental. When the bookmaker appeared, betting became more important than the races.

MIT Holdem Poker Count System Review

Are you looking to improve your Texas Holdem game? I know I am, and after reading many holdem poker guides on the internet, I’ve realized that many of them are very similar and are not very helpful. One very interesting poker system I’ve tried is the MIT Holdem Point Count System. In this review article, I plan to preview the contents of this system and tell you about my experience with this product.

MIT Holdem Point Count System

This system is written into a 7 chapter downloadable ebook, by Ray Seakan, a professional poker player with 18 years of experience. In the introduction, the author starts off by talking about himself and how he had firstly developed a blackjack system, before finally developing this poker point count system. I was personally quite impressed with the author, given the amount of work he had put into creating his system.

The guide then goes on to explain his system, and why it works fundamentally. After reading the explanation of why the system works, I became quite excited and convinced with this in-depth system. It decides for you your course of action based on mathematical percentages of each 2 card hand winning against a table of opponents. It is adjusted for table position, number of players and how many opponents fold ahead of you.

After taking all the above factors into consideration, you will arrive at a number of points. The points addition process is fully explained in the guide. It is 100% mechanical and requires no discretion on the user’s part. You do need to memorize the point count system if you do not play the e-book open.

Chapter 3 is the system counting rules. This is exactly where you’ll learn how to add points based on your table position, and then your hand strength. With your derived number of points, if it is below a certain number, you’ll fold. There are 3 other ranges of points that would determine whether you call or raise. Then it goes on to run through several useful examples to help you understand the system better.

Chapter 4 explains how to apply the point count system to blind hands. It provides very good rules to keep you out of trouble in blind positions. The rest of the chapters talk about advanced concepts of the MIT Holdem Point Count System.

Conclusion

After using the MIT Holdem Point Count System for several days, I would say that it has certainly helped me get more success with poker. Using the point count system, I have been stopped from playing hands that I might have played otherwise and lost in the end. It is also highly recommended that you do not adjust the point system, as I’ve had experiences whereby I adjusted the point system just to try and play more hands. Over the long run, I’ve concluded that it does not pay to do so.

Discipline is extremely vital to this system. The author clearly stresses this point in the final few chapters of the e-book.

Micon System Review – Is Bryan Micon a Scandal?

Playing online poker for a living is hard. In fact, not losing any money from playing poker is not easy. I have personally lost a lot of money playing poker in the past, so much that I almost gave up on poker, a game that I loved so much. Despite buying into many poker systems written by poker “professionals”, my poker skill always seemed to remain at the same level. I applied the same strategies from these strategy guides but my results were always the same, losing. A few months back, I read about the Micon System on the internet. After reading many positive comments and Bryan Micon, I decided to give the Micon System a try. I will tell you about what you can expect to find in the Micon System, as well as my own experience with it.

The first thing I noticed about the Micon System is that it costs $97. This is a relatively high price to pay for a poker product, since most other poker guides cost less than that. I still bought it due to the large number of positive reviews for it, and the other poker guides were not helping me either. I was more concerned with the quality of the product and content more than its cost. I was also worried that even if Bryan Micon might be a good player, his guide might not be well written for me to improve.

After buying the Micon System, I noticed that it is very different from every other similar poker strategy guides that I have read before. There is actually a lot of information in the guide and plenty of new ideas that will give you plenty to think about. Included in the Micon System is a written guide, along with videos and audio of Bryan Micon himself. I got very excited after reading through the guide and watching the videos. The Micon System is clearly written by a very professional point of view, and immediately got me thinking about many aspects of poker which I had never thought about before.

Section 1 of the Micon System is a very helpful bankroll management section. It teaches every player what correct limits he or she should play at, and how to build your bankroll slowly and consistently.

Section 2 of the Micon System teaches you step-by-step on how to make money from poker cash games. This is a very important section of the Micon System to understand if you plan to make money from playing poker. You will learn many unique strategies like hybrid styling, and learn to play every position in order to have the best chance of winning.

The Sit N Go domination in section 3 of the Micon System teaches you how to win more sit n go tournaments. You will learn exactly when to push the big blind and small blind in every scenario.

In the last section 4, you will receive videos and audio, and be able to watch Bryan Micon’s every move as he wins money playing poker. By watching his videos, I have learnt to handle almost every type of situation I encounter, and come out a winner consistently.

The Micon System is not a very easy guide to understand. If you plan to buy the Micon System, you will need a lot of dedication and effort to fully understand what it teaches. Once I understood the Micon System though, I felt like I had a breakthrough in my poker skill. Nowadays I’m able to make more final tables and win more Sit N Gos using the strategies in the Micon System, and winning more money. If you need professional advice on how to improve on your poker, Bryan Micon is the one to turn to.
